Hi Bill,
Fortunately I am not as busy as some of my vet friends, so every time I get a chance and the weather allows, you know what I am doing.
Do not worry about asking, I am glad that I can assist you on improving your already great shots.
I only use AV Aperture - Priority AE & metering mode and the center spot for focus.
Also, as you already know, the closest that you can get to the subject, the better your images will look.
According to my experience, using a 400 F/4, I get my best images when I can shoot my target at not more than 60 feet away.
Good luck buddy and I hope that helps.
If you don't mind, please send me one of your originals at ysaenz@hotmail.com
I am curious about your settings.
Yamil

I always thought Vets were too busy to get out as much as you do??? Just kidding. I'm still havine problems getting the nice crisp shots you get. You have given me so much help and advice I hate to ask again but what mode do you use? Also do you use center spot for focus?
Now this shot should be on the front of every bird magazine in the country. It is so cute and so technically perfect. You continue to amaze and inspire me....more and more every day,
Bill

Very nice composition! The colors fit right into this time of year, fall. DOF is good which keeps the focus on the main subjects.
