About Okay, go easy... this is my first attempt at macro... Finally the flowers in the yard are starting to bloom. I put this flower in a bowl of water and perhaps the petals blend in too much? Comments welcome.

Wow... first I need to know what variety that is... so I can add it to my garden.

Tricky to get the rich color and still keep the bright white. Maybe this spring you can catch another one with a contrasting background. But still, the deep orange really glows, so I wouldn't mess with it.

Hi Rachael, Great picture but I think it would've been better against a contrasting background. I think you're right it does tend to blend with the water. Next time play with the light a little too, it'll add to the effect of the contrasting background.

Thanks for the comments... Yes, Douglas, I admit I was at least a bit disheartened when this flower got a "1" and "2" for its first rating... I try not to put emphasis on ratings, but can't help but peek at them :). Macros and flowers proved harder than I had thought, but I will live & learn. I like new challenges... So used to baseball, it is quite a switch to work with a still object.

It would be an honor to be included in your collage!

EXTREMELY under-rated imho or there is a serious 'bug'in the system. A bit soft on the exposure but I am sure that is what you intended and I LIKE the title moreso. Thanks for sharing and Best of Regards!

P.S. Your name has been included in my 'Sunset Collection Dedication Collage' if you don't mind ... Okay?

Interesting, Rachelle. It may be that the close-up is too much to allow us to see all the flower, or else, not close enough to put a detail into value. The softness is pleasing. The tonal range is to be looked after. I've downloaded this and checked its histogram. It is narrow and yet it saturates in the blues and the greens. Perhaps a pro can give us an advice on this...
