Excellent shot of Milkweed.
Grows wild here.
Side note: Has been a family remedy for years. If you have a wart, find milk weed, cut the stalk and let some fo the milk run onto the wart. Will be gone within a few weeks. May need second application though!

thank you, doyle! life is so fun with fairies around, eh?? ;) lillie has an old mailbox that we use as a fairy mailbox. she leaves little 'gifts' - a pretty leaf, etc. and sometimes they leave her something, too!

thank you, ale! they are called milkweed, and they grow in those pods. when you cut the stem (in the summer) or the leaves, you get a milky substance that leaks from the plant. when we were little, we'd tear up plants and then collect all the milk and pretend to feed the fairies. ;)
here's a photo of the milkweed seeds not blown about yet. the top of the pod has come off, and you can see the seeds within. they are so soft and feathery!!
