About Series of triptyches for a new coffee maker - the Cafe Invento - to be launced in November this year.

Studio shoot, using three strobes. Please take the time to click the link below the image if you're a donor to see the full sized triptych.

Today: t - 1 week prior to the launch, it's time to let the appliance reveal itself. I just came back from China to check up on production, and things are looking great. The box is printed (yeah - these photos) and the machines are being sea-freighted to Europe by the container.... Two year's worth of work close to completion. It feels great!

While these types of photos aren't really my cup of tea (or I guess that should be coffee) they certainly stand out. I guess that is what they are intended to do - grab the eye of the consumer. They are strong individually and work well together as a triptych. Congratulations on the awards.

By the way, are we getting a third image?

Hi Hugo
First of all congratulations with the double award which comes as no surprise as this is an attentio grabber, like the previous triptych. Well done my friend. On the photos themself there is not much left to say other than the compositions that are all strong, allowing them all to be uploaded as stand-alone photos - greater impact together! One aspect made me curious though - I noticed two streams running into the one cup while there is "placemats" for two cups, each able to receive one stream at the side of the cup. Not sure if it is true or if it is supposed to take only one cup in the middle. I know it sounds like nitpicking, I am trying to see it from the consumer side - would it not make sense to illustrate and market the ability of the machine to make two cups at one go if it has the capacity (that way me and my wife can drink a warm cup together)? I am just curious although I might be totally off the mark. Take care and thanks again for your consistent and valued input on my photos.

Hugo, I'm a little late to see this and comment on it. This triptych makes a powerful impact. I like the use of red and black - strong colors that work well with the strong angles within each image. There is such a graphic quality to the structure within the image. I'm sure your work will help Cafe Invento be a smashing success.

Congrats on all aspects of this project!

Hi Hugo,
The perfect antidote to my overdose of nature shots :)

From your about, it seems you have been very busy indeed! I know it can be quite a challenge dealing with items produced in China. We have had some success and some failures in our product launches in China. It's great when it works out, but can be a real pain when it doesn't. We deal with Automotive electronics components, new product development.

Anyway....Congrats on the double award for this image! You take very good advantage of the combined triptych / panorama. I notice a lot of people post panoramas without uploading the correct image size, resulting in simply a second post of the same thing.

....and also, take a look at frogstudios.se They has such brillians and sharpness cause of the bigformat digital cameras and incredible large studio. I like the abstract style they often use for products and the lightning is masterly....

I like the close-up work you have done here Hugo and the middle shot has an interesting abstract approach which i really like, it fit also into the "triptych".

Nice to see a commersial work of your, Hugo.

Hi Hugo,

I don't know much about this style of imagery, but then I am more like the clients that will be inspired to buy or at least be intrigued buy this product. TO my eye you have managed to create ocular interest buy adding red. Which always is a eye grabber. The cropping of your middle image having less of a defined focus creates tension and yet still supplies visual information about the product. The Shots on either side being easier to assimilate visually allow my eyes a relaxed understanding of what it is that you are trying to communicate. Now having broken down just what is going on in this triptych for me I can appreciate even more the totality of just how much work has gone into your award wining series.
Good luck on the sales end it will be interesting to know how it pans out in the long run.

Cheers,
Tim

Hi Hugo -

The red, black, white and stainless combine to give it a retro look, your creation of curves and shapes and their reflections give it a futuristic look. I think. :)

Congrats on the awards, and your product launch!
Best wishes,
Kes

woOt! Crema crema crema! You realise of course, that I'm probably close to the target market here: Mid thirties, career, busy lifestyle, coffee connoisseur (love Giuliano's comment, but then, he's most likely used to those million bar pressure barristas they've got in italian cafes) ;)... I did ask for the glass cup with chrome trim (coffee always tastes better in glass), but hey, the red works just as well. I guess the splash of vibrant colour is more effective visually and that's the idea.

Great series and CONGRATULATIONS on your fine work! Off to check out the website now...

Cheers
Rina.

Hugo, congratulations for the achievement! I'm sure customer will soon be happy to have this fine work.
I like the blocking method you used here: the colors, mood, and style, but perhaps you'd want to include the whole coffee maker in the frame so we could see the overall shape. Just my 5 cents.
Regards,
Hanggan-Indonesia

Howdy Hugo!

I know how you feel...a deadline, and darting to China over and over again to make sure it's all on course.

great job getting through it! ...it always works out in the end, trust me :)

This is a great series! I love this one, but I do have one minor issue, and it's just because I spend my day job looking for the one pixel that's out of place. The far left cell, there's a good amount of dirt on the machine base around the black circles. It took me out of the image, and almost gave me the 'dirty fork' feeling, looking for dirt in the other cells.

With the exception of the dirt, these are beautiful! I love the balance of color, and shape. The center cell/ with the reflections of the black circles crawling up the machine face is a brilliant way to sell the depth of your shot.

Very well done! Congrats on the BIP (well deserved for all of your hard work!)

Keep it up, and good luck with the project! My year long project just ended a few weeks ago, and could not be happier to see theaters selling out! ..I hope the same happens to you!

cheers buddy, and good to see you back!

Great consistency of colours in each image - red, silver, black. I like the way that, following on from the first series, in this one we see the machine working. But those streams of coffee look a little watery...!
