Hi Dave,
It's risky, but it's worth it to give it a try.
The best options are those kayaks paddle with your feet and the pilot foot controls rudder. That allows you to keep your hands free for the camera.
And just in case something goes wrong, I always bring a dry bag.
I bet you will be satisfied with the results that you can get.
Besides, it’s great to experience the outdoors on a kayak.
