nice lighting, love the shadows, and you captured the texture of the petals beautifully.

Very nice macro. The only thing I would do is adjust the brightness a touch, as there are no bright whites anywhere in the image. Great work!

It's a nice first attempt, the focus is good and the colors are bright and natural, expecially I like the sky as background instead of the usual solid black. There is only something in the left top corner that is a bit distracting, but I know that is hard to pay attention to everything happens around. Best regards

Response to all comments on focus being soft:.. here are some more details as how i got the shot....

the flower is at a height of 7 feet from the ground on a small tree in the children's park. It was about 6:00 PM. I hand held the camera high above my shoulders and aimed and took the shot using Macro closeup.. no tripod was used.. since this is an experimental shot.. i was happy with the results i got on it.. more macro with careful details will come later on..

I like the flower you chose for this first shot with your new camera! The focus looks just a touch soft, but it works for this image. To improve the composition, I'd suggest cloning out the other flower visible in the lower left, and the dark area in the lower right. You did a nice job of keeping the center of the flower looking fresh and moist. Keep posting!!

Fine macro. Interesting what is in the centre of the flower -is it jam or nectar?
