Thank you very much for your comment.
I agree with you, these guys (and the Wood Ducks) are among the cutest ducks in the state.
In 2005-6, I spent many days looking for the Buffleheads and tried to get close to them with not luck, until I found 2 very cooperative ones in Shoreline Lake, Mountain View,CA.
This one in particular allowed me to get only 12 feet from him. That's the minimum focal distance of my lens so I am glad it worked out just fine.
I have seen more Buffleheads this year (2006) than in the previous one and I hope that means their population is doing well.

The colors are very cool on this guy . . . you pulled in the irridescent quality of the colors very nicely and seem to have been at a lower angle than Marcus!! I gotta tell you (too) that, aside from being, oh, I don't know; "The Cutest Freaking LiL Duck in California!" . . . you managed that very cool water droplet accent nicely as well. This too is stunning work.
