About
I used a relatively slow shutter to capture a smooth/smokey effect in the water on this shot. However, even at the smallest possible aperture setting, this left the shot looking a little over-exposed. I did a bit of digital manipulation to drag the brightness down - in the end I actually took it a bit too far. This is slightly darker than I'd intended, but as I was quite pleased with the result I decided to leave it as it is.
I like this shot, but I would crop off the top 3rd of it so the horizon wasn't in the middle of the frame and it would get rid off the dead space that is all blue and bring your eyes to the foreground.
Dave - excellent shot! I especially like the contrast of textures between the top 2/3 and the rocks in the foreground. The colors of course are splendid and the slight hint of orange at the bottom really balance this shot. Perhaps you can bring this out more by allowing the rocks to be a tad bit lighter than the rest.
