About These ferocious looking egg-laying Mammals are actually quite shy. Superficially, they resemble the anteaters like hedgehogs and porcupines with their coarse hair and sefensive spines. The female lays a soft, leathery egg and deposits it into her POUCH (as does our PLATYPUS).
