Nice horizontal composition. I am always worried about cropping pictures in this fashion, but you have done a nice job at it. I also like the simplicity of the picture, include the nearly monochromatic color scheme.

I love the all blue palette on this fine photo, John. There are two points of change that I would like to see. One, which may not be possible, is for there to be slightly more space to the right of the prop on the boat motor to balance the space to the left of the boat houses. The other is to lighten up the right side, especially the upper right, so that the overall tonal balance is lessened. I did a quick crude mockup of what I mean which you can see below.
Neither of these points truly detract from the really pleasing photo you've created.

I like this composition, and view. The boat in the foreground is just the thing you need to add an extra special touch to the shot.

I agree the full-size shot needs sharpening, but its not as soft as the other one with the full length jetty. Were you in the water with your tripod? Or was this hand held?

I always have a really tough time keeping my tripod from sinking in the wet sand....keep forgetting to put the sand shoes on it....

You've certainly done an excellent job with the colour and the composition, this would look great framed.

Love the *blues* you have captured here John...:)

Looks like a nice summers day... that being the case, sitting in the *tinny* may not be a great idea... ;)
