I had to comment on this one, having seen thousands of them on Maryland's eastern shore two weeks ago. They come down for the winter. You can recognize them in flight by the black feathers on the outer edges of their wings. This is a beautiful shot -- I didn't see any until sunset when they all returned at once to the refuge. Not the best light for getting a photograph, but quite an experience to see and hear thousands of them in the sky.

Beautiful work, as always, Marcus.

All the best,

Maryanne

Hi Maryanne, sorry for the late reply. work first photography second :( . yes it is very strange to see a snow goose in CA. This was only the second time and I folowed this guy around for an hour LOL, there were many bird photographers around this area but did not know this was a Snow Goose as we have a simular Rosses goose here, so they looked at me like i was crazy chasing him around. I told them what it was after It had left :)
Take care...

This serves to remind me that I haven't gone to the eastern shore of Maryland to see the snow geese (as I meant to do). They winter near the Chesapeake Bay, and you can see cloulds and clouds of them. I think it is a bit unusual to see them in California.

Wonderful shot.

Hi Marcus,
I think this one is just as good as the dive-bombing hawk. You caught this guy perfectly.
