Hi Paul!
This lens ... 50mm 1.8, work enough good with IR .. I can it shoots with shutter of the 4 ó 5 seconds up to the more long exposition (20 ó 30 seconds) depending on the light and the more conditions....
This last time I have been trying enough with my IR filter with the canon XT and with my sony H1 ... in last this one I can throw in high speeds (almost without used of tripod) but the level of grain and noise is enough for alone what sometimes I obtain good results...
Lamentably Canon does not obtain good results with infrared until you use the suitable lenses ... and between them as I have read in some forums in the web 50 mm f1.8 he is one of the best...

It's true...Canon is not very good in IR shot (like Nikon for example) ... but with the Canon lens 50mm f1.8 have good results... though I must use long exhibitions, 15 ó 20 seconds generally...

Nice IR shot! I like the trees in the right! How many seconds for the shutter? It is a hard shot, since Canon is not so IR sensitive.
