There's something quite striking about this photo, I'm not sure if I can put my finger on a particular aspect of it that's attracted my attention so much. It could be the great composition, and how the branches and other materials frame the shot so perfectly, os maybe it's the wonderful color...the supporting background's coloring is the perfect foil to the birds plumage. Whatever the reason, this one really is a favorite.

What lens and zoom power were you using? ... defocus area looks smooth! good exposure control with a backlit situtation. What mode were you in? ev compensation?
