Love the composition of this one Joe...:) how the light is giving petal structure to the bloom on left... Even tho the highlights are a tad blown, still a nice shot Joe... Like your second version also... Are you using a black core-board for the background???...
Agree with the practise, practise, practise motto... big thing is always enjoy...:)
Extra nice Joe...:)

Hi Mel, this plant is grown from a bulb inside the house, it wouldn't last long in our -15C weather outside. :) :). Thanks for your nice comments. All the best, Joe

My goodness, how hardy are those plants? I grow them here in the sub-tropics and I'm lucky to get flowers until well into Spring, you guys live in the ice and snow and its flowering already??? This is nicely done, excellent composition too.
Thanks for your comments on my shots, Regards Mel

Very nice shot dad, Just think that the lighting is a little wierd for me. maybe a little too bright on the hightones for a black background.

Thanks very much Frank for your feedback. With two blooms your options of shooting angles are limited, I was trying to keep the blooms from overlapping one another. Although the rear bloom does droop I don't feel it has a sad look. In the attached version, I've tried a different angle and given it less contrast to reduce the blown out areas, What do you think?

I like the colours in this picture, but I don't like the composition to much: I think the flower to the left gives the pictur a sad look. Maybe another angle would change that. Furthermore I think the highlights are a bit blown out.

Hi Joe, Another beauty! The dark background is so wonderful to show up the vivid colours of the flower, the leaves and stem. Sylvia
