I think you somehow sensed that I might want to be more critical but wrote a diplomatic comment instead :) :)
I still think it is a nice compositon and a likeable pose. But yes I have to agree with Pablo Dylan when he talks about the lack of white in the image. The image also suffers from some kind of digitized break up. (blown up too large maybe?)
The lightened versions that you posted are an improvement, however lightening is not the only answer. I think what Pablo was trying to explain comes down to the image not having enough range in the greyscale. It is NOT too dark... but not enough variation in the greyscale. Try taking some more images of exactly the same pose and crop, but use different lighting conditions to bring out highlights and some shadows. Positioning her in natural window light will work beautifully. You will pick up highlights in her hair and eyes. The difference will amaze you. I hope I don't sound like too much of a no-it-all. This time I feel you are looking for some suggestions :)
Believe me, it is not the darkness that is wrong, only the lack of variety in the contrast. Check out some famous photographers on the web. Karsh for one, and you will see what I mean.

You are mastering these portraits so well, I am impressed. Your subject is so pretty and you have managed to bring out a beauty from within as well... Nice to see it back again Dear Srna :) This is a beautiful shot.....her perfect eyes, and the hint of a smile, combined with some very fine detail make for a wonderful portrait. She is very pretty and makes an excellent photographic model I think, as well as being a great subject :)
