Thanks Onie for the always thoughtful comment. You and I think alike in this case . . . what can they be thinking? . . . and since we think in 'words', do they think in images or some language of their own? Do they think about what's on the next menu at feeding time? Are they concerned with which one is the 'hottest' looking chimp? :)
Hehehehee

After reading your *about* can certainly see the logic in no merging... That Ice Age feel is definately there...:)
He is very thoughtful here Doyle... Often wondered what it would be like inside looking out through their eyes, what and how they percieve us... friend or foe...:)
Amazing watching them in their family groups... where they fit in the family hierachy...:)
Extra nice study Sir, excellent...:)
Onie...

Thanks Nessa!! Since he and I are so similar I easily developed a psychic connection with him and, as it happens, I can tell you what he was thinking!
"That's right . . . it's all about ME. Everyone take MY picture . . . Who's the big furry ball of Rompin' Stompin' romance in this place, huh?"
Yep . . . that's what he was thinking. LoL!

Yes, when the animals are treated well having really big areas where they can roam and act then I don´t feel as bad about it as when seing animals in small cages walking back and forward all day having no space to move, nothing to occupy their mind and senses. Good that more and more zoo´s and also the public are aware of their needs. Take care

Thanks for the comment Dave. (I did consider that). I felt the mist more natural if I left it as it was . . . though if I had more skill at manipulating the image . . . who knows? :)

Annemette:
I understand the captivity issue . . . unfortunately . . . as mankind spreads . . . this will become more and more the only alternative I fear. But no need to feel sad for these guys. They have a very natural habitat . . . very large . . . with waterfalls and no natural predators. They also have a loft with play equipment of all sources to retire to each evening at 4:00pm.
Generally . . . animals held in cages or less regard DO merit pity (certainly from me). But not always. My monitor, for example . . . lives MUCH longer in captivity because they have much more difficulty finding food in the wild. Overall though . . . you have a valid point. Thanks as always for the kind comment!

Excellent capture, Doyle! I think your exposure works very well, although you might be able to tone down the brightest areas a bit to minimize any distraction they might cause. The pose and expression is great though, and the lighting on his face is perfect. Dave.

Wonderful portrait and title! The cliffs and water in the background really gives an impression of an ancestor of ours in combination with the intelligent face. Seing monkies and apes in captivity always makes me sad though. Take care Annemette

Great shot Doyle and it sounds like although you had to work with difficult exposures It really came out very nice... This males looks DEEP in thought and kind of sad... ( I hope not) It's probably just the deep thought look . I agree to keep the ice age look is perfect for this--- and an appropriate name as well. Very nice ---Love the zoo shots !!!
