John is one of those people who were born in the wrong time period. In his heart and mind he is a part of days long past. Looking at this Portrait, I think you'd have to agree.
Very nicely done! No doubt hanging on a wall in the subject's home . . . Wardrobe, pose, vignetting at the corners, and lighting treatment all work well together in this classic character portrait.
He seems to be gazing off into some distant time. Very effective pose.
