P.P.S. Journeys has a TON of edgy lifestyle advertising. I used to be a manager for them. The Parent company is Genesco. just to give you a good place to start.

Oh and for all the naysayers out there Genesco also owns Johnston and Murphy. Ohh and Dockers :)

Excellent work Paul!
I love what you have done with the toning; it really makes her tats POP!
Excellent pose and expression as well.
I dont think it would be a bad thing at all for you to try and submit your skills to some of the younger magazines and advertising! I think more of your work like this would be perfect for todays 20-30something lifestyles.
Well done and good find on the model.

P.S. You know its good when theres already a lot of controvercy over it! :)

MJB > first off,YOU were not the only guy who was not fond of her tats...re-read...

you say> "...you don't shoot fashion so maybe it would be a good thing to research things first next time."

Nothing to research...just because i don't shoot fashion/glam does not mean by a long shot that i don't have knowledge about the industry...like you,i don't shoot birds in flight either, but have a certain degree of knowledge about it...

FYI: there are many markets today which feature tat AND pierced models since their focus market is geared toward today's generation of consumers who buy those fashions/products...do your own research by picking up not only USA urban street fashion style mags, but also international urban fashion mags...and i am not talkin' low end fashion either, but what many younger celebs and music industry buy/wear...not all of today's up n' coming young models have the goal of one day being a runway/mag cover couture model for what you call the A agencies...

you say>"I happen to know she would like to go Pro..."

Of course one can ASSUME she is doing local shoots with Paul and others to create her "Book" so that she can eventually be paid and "go pro" as you say...i don't know her personally and wasn't aware that you did either...

And i know your work...at least what you have posted here at UF and past attachments in emails in the past...obviously you have a good eye for studio fashion shots,at least IMO...but that was then and this is now...from what you told me,those shots were back in the day when you operated a studio in California 10,15 or 20 yrs. ago....times they be a'changin' ;>

Ms. Hardman, since I'm really the only one who complained about her tattoo's addressing me directly would have been a bit more courteous. I was mainly speaking from a professional POV since I happen to know she would like to go Pro and that "ink" is just gonna make it super difficult, if not impossible, for her to get with any legit A level agency (be it Paris, Milan, NYC, or LA). I know your work, you don't shoot fashion so maybe it would be a good thing to research things first next time. Just a friendly bit of advice...BTW, Don't get the both hands - keyboard part.... can you please explain.....Seriously, what does that mean? (maybe I'm out of it).......

respect to Rob as he got it right about edgy/sexy...for the rest of you nay sayers, get a grip!...if she is like many her age,i'm sure she could care less what you over 40yr olds think about her choice to express herself...keep both hands on the keyboard,fellas!....bahahahaaaaa

i like her expression and those eyes of hers in this comp, and of course the showing of the tats

regards,gayle

Paul,

I really like this a lot; clearly she is gorgeous and I'm really surprised they're so disgusted by her tatoo's...I however thinks she's edgy and sexy! The question to me would be how much more there is to her...gotta be a story there and a whole lot of character.

umm the eternal dilemma.. when the buddhist monk sets himself on fire in front of us do we put him out or photograph?? so it is with the dilemma of photographing this gorgeous creature and yet she is covered in tatts..

Hehe. Poor Mark. It is an interesting juxtaposition though. Here you have this addorable little cutie in her innocent summer dress and there is a big fecking demon on her shoulder. Still, I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers.

Good shot Paul.... now i wanna puke, such a beautiful girl with porcelain skin ALL RUINED. Think I'll go outside and scratch up a Ferrari with a giant screwdriver.... is EVERYBODY going crazy ? God, she looks like Nastasija Kinski at her peak... UNBELIEVABLE..... ruined my Friday.....

Thanks James.
Yeah, she had just gotten that tattoo on her arm, and was very proud of it, so I thought I'd work a wide-angle shot to emphasize it for her.

one great shot Paul!!! I love the tones, her skin seems to be porcelain, and the soft light give us a big sense of delicate situation that strangely goes so well with her fantastic coloured tattoo!!!
You did a real good job here Paul, real good!!!!
Just love it...

Very good, dramatic pose you put her in, Paul. The way her hand in the foreground leads you to the art is very well thought out. Not your typical Tat photo.
