About Pic yesterday at our sanctuary.
Notice the pitbull on the right. She was rescued from an underground fighting ring. She must have been a champion as she didn't died on the pit, for years she had been used to breed pups for fights. Now that she was old she was being used as "sparring" for other dogs, still, she survived long enough until one of us bought her and got her out of there.
When she arrived her entire body was destroyed, but the psychological scars are much worst.
Basically, when she's on a leash she's the calmest, nicest dog in the world, the moment you take the leash away she just goes for the kill. We must find a home for her soon as she cannot be kept anywhere, she just eats the iron bars!!!

Dear Ivan
THanks for mailing me the link with all the good stories where dogs were rescued.
I do hope that you know I´m thinking about the poor terrier when talking like I do. I´m sure that many dogs can be rehabilitated, but a poor dog that has been taught to be a killermaschine and who has been mistreated severely - how can she ever have a decent life? What she has been taught is suddenly wrong and her owners must be extremely cautious when being around other animals.
I do hope that she´ll have some good years and that it will turn out as a happy end. Hat off for doing this priceless work.
Best wishes
Annemette

Thanks Annemette.
Allow me however to disagree with you on put the dog down and I will tell you why... we sometimes look at the problems from a human perspective. We think, a human would never recover from this, how could a dog?. In the time I have been involved in this issues I have seen some of most amazing recoveries, it really doesn't take much, other than patience and the firm believe in the healing power of nature and love.

Let me show you a slideshow we made last Christmas that illustrates this point very well..

It makes me so happy knowing that there are people like you guys helping these poor animals. It makes me sick into my stomach seing how disrespectful animals are treated still although our knowledge about them has increased quite a lot.
Poor pittbull. It´s pure evil breeding dogs to fight like this. People who enjoy this are despicable beings. I must honestly say that I personally think that the best for that poor dog would to put her down. She´s been destroyed both physically and mentally as you say which means that her life can never be really well, and she can´t be trusted without a leash. Poor poor dog being victim of humans´ stupidity and arrogance.
Thanks for sharing this - it´s important.
Best wishes
Annemette
