Onie -- It is all about Karma. Set them free and good things come back in return (as do the spiders and mice). :) --Best to you, Jan

LOL Jan... Can see Roland's pantry is no longer bare... Fancy Feast, exactly what our Madam will only eat... and in her 17th yr., not sure how she'd go in the same situation as Roland... )
So very glad that the taste buds have stepped outside the straight and narrow of feline want...
Laughing at Annemette, Robin and Meg with Socks... Wonder if they do have pussy cat size shopping trolleys LOL...
Must admit to liking the field mice also... Try and catch them in a corner, although did catch a couple in the washing machine and taking them outside to set free... The hose of the vacuum cleaner sucked up one... The poor little thing had a dust coat when emptied into the hydrangeas... but was ok as he'she scurried off... LOL Colin thinks I'm mad... What between the spiders and mice that get set free, only to return as he says they will, I must be...
Just glad all ok Jan...:)))
Onie...

Meg -- I have to see that!!!!! Socks could pick out all the expensive foods and then NOT eat them. At least make her push the grocery cart. --Jan

I think what I'm going to do is to take Socks to the supermarket with me so that she can pick her own.... :)))

~~Grin~~ The list of what Socks will not eat is endless, it includes salmon and prawns which she sniffs and then turns her back on in disgust...! We have tried almost every kind of cat food you can think of but the best she will do is to lick the jelly or gravy off the meat. For now its tuna and biscuits, it's all she will eat. :0

Funny that you say this as this is what I was called in the village where I lived with my parents:-) I just call it respect and love that the animals sense from me making them calm down.

haha I know exactly what u mean, Jan! I do the same thing:-) One time I even caught a mouse in a hat. It was in the bedroom and climbed in the curtain. Then I started talking to it calming it down, and I ended up being able to make it walk quietly down in a hat I was having in my hand, and then I slowly walked out in the garden and set it free. I should have taken it further away, but that would be troubling for the poor fellow in a hostile environment, and as long as it just made it up the hayloft I was happy:-) I´ve also calmed birds down like this. Enchanting experiences:-)

Thanks, Annemette. If I chase mice it will be to give them a chance to survive outdoors. Mice are too cute to sacrifice to Roland. In past years I have humanely trapped a few field mice and I take them outside into the woods and set them free. --Best regards from the Great Hunter

Great that you took Roland to your home and to your heart, Jan, although I can see the problem for you by chasing mice for him at night*LOL*

Robin -- I got a big kick out of your comment. I would not be surprised if Roland decided to train us to do just that! :) :) (He does watch TV, especially when animals are on the screen.....anything is possible). --Best to you, Jan

Good news all around Jan! Hope Roland does not watch television or you may be ringing the silver bell and serving his Fancy Feast in a cut crystal bowl! :)
Take care...Robin

Thanks so much, Liz. I appreciate your pulling for the little guy. He is eating the new stuff with great enthusiasm. The best part is we discovered it before his old supply in the pantry ran out. --Best to you, Jan

Meg -- I wish I had a magic solution to offer for Socks. With us it was buying everything on the shelves and trying them one at a time. However. our cat will drink anytime/anywhere. Our neighbor's cat will only drink one brand of bottled water. (And he cannot be fooled). Hard to believe that evolution brought these creatures to the modern day intact! :) :) --Best to you, Jan

Annemette -- It is hard to tell who are the keepers and who are the inmates in our house. If I had a choice between IV solution and force feeding versus bringing mice in my mouth to starving cat, I am not sure which way I would turn! :) :) --Meow from the Loony One (??Roland or Jan??) PS: He is very picky, spoiled and neurotic and was that way when we got him from the shelter. He was an abused cat before joining our family.
