Hi Peta, thanks for the comment. I usually use an SLR but I just didn't have time to get it out. The light only lasted a few seconds. I always keep the Powershot handy for just such occassions. :)

You lucky girl, what a gorgeous view! Very much reminds me of Miami. I'd love to see what you could do with an SLR :)

Thanks John for you critique. Actually there were no filters used. That was the colour which is why I grabbed the camera. As you say, the smallest apeture on a compact is F8 and that's what it was set on. I couldn't change the composition much as the lens was already at it's widest and I wanted to include as much of the sky and rainbow as I could. I live on the 33rd floor so my angle of view is a bit awkward. Cheers.

Very well taken.....
According to me... it is perfect. Very well detailed...and well composed...photograph but i think it will be better if u crop it little more from above.
And specially the lighting part is awesome.
All over 7+++++
Regards.

Very good shot, the placement of the main big buildings at the corner of the image and generaly the diagonal way of the coastline into the image works well. Nice rainbow...almost two of them... the colors are also nice, warm...looks like you use a color filter with scale at the sky.
hmm...perchaps I could try to make a better way on the buildings, not the best to cut an object like that (bottom buildings) but that is veeery difficult to do. Also needs smaller aperture that shot but I also ask a lot as generaly the compact cameras don't have less than f/8 so....
the shot as you take it is excellent and diserves that rate.
Best regards.
