Absolutely excellent shot, love that deep red color of the sunset, great the wood as a main object in perspective too!

Thank you so much for this great and useful advice! I´ll print it out so I always have it by my side when looking at my seaphotos especially.

Yep, there is! Either use a longer focal length lens, or... do the following... in the wonderful box of tricks known as photoshop, go to the layer menu, select 'new layer from background'. Then go to the edit menu and select 'transform' then 'warp' from the sub-folder. A kind of grid is overlaid over your image which allows you to pull it about all over the place. You can now warp your image by dragging the points in the corners so that the curved areas of the image straighten up. I find it's good to open a grid so that you have horizontal lines to work against when choosing how much and what to warp (View - show - grid). I hope this makes sense, I don't really know all the geek terms for all this... I don't want to end up like Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons...

How in the world did you do that - I mean read my thoughts?? I didn´t write anything. Longings can be so much, but indeed particular in this case, well exactly what you wrote down. A bit spooky that my thoughts are written down by you. Yes, what to do about the horizonline? Is there a way to remove the curve? I do like such curves hinting towars the shape of Earth, our small planet in the vast space.

I love driftwood... this reminds me of searching for it on the banks of the Thames. I was looking at the curve of the horizon and thought about saying 'watch out for curved horizons when using a wide angle lens' but then I decided I liked it. Why? Because the photo makes me think of someone missing someone who is far, far away, and the curve of the horizon brings it home just how vast a place this ol' Earth is when the person you want to be with isn't by your side...
