About	Went to Moraine View State Park today. Learned a lot about geology. What is a moraine? The farthest, leading edge of a glacier. All the dirt and earth and rocks swept up in the glacier (well, not "all" but a considerable amount) rumble and tumble and pile up at the edge... the "moraine." The paragraph in the center of the image reads: Some of the rocks you see in the park are unlike the local sedimentary bedrock in the area. These rocks, called erratics, hitchhiked a ride with the glacier. Some travelled hundreds of miles from northern Michigan and Canada. Erratics are usually found singly and may be quite large. They may be found in a wide variety of rock types. Some of them even bear scratches (striae) resulting from their ride within the ice. The large rock just to the left of this display is an erratic.
