About Not sure if she was born this way or caused by chemical reactions to insecticides on her natural food sources, but this little hummer has been feeding from my window for 3 months now with crippled wings, feet & beak. We've got to be pretty good friends and she occassionally flies in through my window to say hello in the early morning hours. Nature is truly amazing and her will to survive must be pretty strong. I've named her sweetlips!

This IS her natural color but usually doesn't show up unless I've shot with flash to stop wing action and reflect the luminescent colors of her feathers. My mom is the queen of hummer shots. See her albums under downtheroad101 Jan Schray. Her hummers are amazing. We compete daily to see who can get the best shots. She can hold her feeder inside her window now and they just follow her in and feed while she holds it!

First off, I cannot believe your stop action on this, Laurie. I know how fast these little ones are. Second, all that yellow on her, I wonder if that is a natural color.

Poor thing.

Best wishes,

Dave

Hi Laurie,
Oh what a shane!! poor little soul but at least she has you. A sad and poignant picture but also uplifting because she managed to survive despite all odds:) :) :)
