i agree, a vice like this does crush.
i have spent as long as i can remember seeing the world through a haze of pills and this work speaks volumes to me, then agen all your works speak to me on some level.

I should mention at some point here that this isn't really a vice for me at this point in my life, a dozen years or so I had a bad xanax experience, following doctors orders, keep a few in your bag and the bottle by your bedside and take them when you start to feel stressed... well, how quickly do you think this became habitual, I was 15 and had unlimited refills... so, it resulted in me knodding in classes and when I tried to stop I ended up passed out cold at the bus stop in front of all the neighbor kids, as if having deathly pale skin and wearing lots of black wasn't enough to get them talking... anywho... that's my little xanax tale... my dr. gave me a bottle 5 months ago (decided I liked valium too much to feel safe with that kind of vice around) and I still have about 3/4 of the bottle left... I feel stress, but I've found other ways to work it out of my system... i.e. this kind of thing. Have found that in the height of an anxiety attack I can get some of my most creative stuff accomplished. Sadly I know way too many folks, professionally and personally who are sucked into the "one pill makes you smaller" mentality... I watch them ruin people, I watch them become a vice... gripping... crushing...
