About One of the few shots I managed to shoot on a dreary day going through Glacier National Park. Black and white works well under these conditions I think. Just the same i wish i had time to hang around and wait for better lighting.

Thank you, Tim! I was surprise to see but had never mentioned to you earlier! You have great collection of landscapes which many of those can turn in B/W spectaculars. To day had walk in to the Art fair but the photography was to boring for my taste. Also couple photographers mention the shift to B/W its more evident because many had ask for it. Not sure what caused but seems to day digital cameras has flooded and overwhelm what used to be simplicity in quality. Not sure maybe:)
Cheers,
Harry

Hi Eb,

Yes you could be right. I did play with cropping the tree out, but so much of the branch character of the main tree would be cut out as well so i chose to do a wider crop. Thanks for your perspective.

Great job Tim! Those are magnificent b&w tones and well composed. I have a minor nitpicking with the lone tree at the upper left which, to my eye, is superfluous. You could try cropping in tighter to the "bodhi" tree.

Great eye for the B&W shot, Tim. The branches add interest to an otherwise bland sky. Nice compo. That border works well here too.

Hi Harry,

You may be right about that branch on the bottom. I guess i just left it there because I didn't feel it detracted from the over all composition. As to color there wasn't much color during that day due to the clouds and i felt it was more dramatic in B/W.
My Black and White series was posted to see what the response would be to just a tonal composition. And to see if they maintained a certain level of drama without color. Also the photo software company ( www.acdsee.com )that i am working with asked me to create a few black and white images for their use as well as some of my color images.

Very interesting perspective, great composed scene, Tim, actually to my eye it will look better on color, because the white flowers taking a way the drama of it! I'm wondering the branch on the bottom if you had left for a reason? Also seen all those BW series
Wonder what had motivated you:)
Cheers,
Harry

Another very nice b/w, Tim! The tones really lend themselves to the texture and details of the old tree, with the low cloud and hills in the background.
