You're givin' me goosebumps! 1) I'm glad you liked the shot. 2) Yes, the rope sucked, I didn't want to chance a fakey looking C-stamp on it but, I probably could have done it convincingly. 3) The land on the right should've gone bye bye.
I need your continued, and well considered honesty, UF can become a nighty meeting of the Mutual Admiration Society. It may seem bizarre, but I want people to tear my work apart and be picky. First off its more interesting to read. Secondly, I very much desire to improve my pictures, even newbies criticism is very welcome because even someone who has never taken a photo knows a good shot from a bad one just like fat, old, ugly men (kinda like me) know that Shakira and Jessica Simpson are super hot and Rosie O'Donnell is not no B.A. required. So a hearty thanks to you my friend for laying it out for me here. Sal

Sal, My Brother!!
Out of your last few posts, I Like this the best.
I Love the dock angle and the way it leads the eye right through the shot. I am glad the the underside of the dock isn't in to much shadow and the fact that you managed to unlock all of the details all the way through the shot as far as the eye can see. The Cloud scape is a very pleasant bonus.
All the way around a fantastic shot and presentation!
Now a few things that I might have done a bit differently. All of the following are a matter of taste. so Take what I am about to say with a grain of salt my friend.
1st
The Rope hanging down from the dock is a bit distracting and I don't feel that it adds anything to the shot.
2nd
the crop that you went with is splendid, but any thought to leaving more of the right hand side and lower portion in. that way the foot isn't partially missing?
3rd
your horizon line is spot on.
My only question would be, the right hand side of the shot, it looks like land with something that is rising above the horizon line. Did you think about cloning that out. Because it is so small that you can't make out what it is and IMHO would balance out both sides perfectly.
Anyhow that is just some food for thought.
My Very Best Regards

You know Jason, I think you hit the nail right on the head. My shots prior to the last few have lacked people. I think that might just be what has been missing from my work. I treasure your critique and am in your debt for lighting the little bulb above my head. Thanks brother! Sal P.S. Half the people at the end of the dock on my previous shot are Canadian (Scarborough-ians)

You've created some wonderful images with the long dock, Sal. I like that in each of the 3 (so far) you have incorporated the people very well in with the scenery. J.
