I like this Paul. she's very pretty. Nice pose, great dress. I bit closer on the crop would make it just that much better :)

hi ya,brat!...i love her dress and waterline with foot, but would crop down,or clone out the BG cement line at top...

FYI: Just uploaded the first of about 15 shots of Doyle's travelling Gene-Bear shots here:

A very good shot but you can't top the last one. I agree with the comments - screw the backround....... (new mantra) IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT THE MODEL, IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT THE MODEL, IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT THE MODEL........
I agree with Aniko's crop/ps work, I'd ride with that one........a near great shot (I don't want this to look neg because it's not meant to be at all) I would make this one - model - your MUSE, if not, send her out west, she can be my MUSE - :~>

Ani,
You're right. Removing the riverbank above her head does leave much less for the eye to study beyond her. Thanks for the tip, and, how can I EVER get angry when someone cares enough to critique my work?

It's all good, Ani, and thank you so much for this valuable suggestion.

Paul....

I love Amber's pose here... really great!

I admit that when I first saw this, even as a thumbnail, the wall (I didn't know what it was, even after viewing it full size), kept pulling me away from Amber entirely!!! (And that is such a pity, as she is stunning, is wearing a charming gown, and her posture is quite relaxed and just right in my opinion). But it takes me too long to view her, as my mind is questioning... what is that line above her head? Why is it there?
Could you perhaps not clone it out, Paul? The path/wall "thingo" she's sitting on leads off nicely into the top viewing right... Without the other strong "thingo" being there, I feel the image would be 100%...

I sincerely hope you are not angry with me for giving my view... I also took the liberty of doing a very quick slap dash crop and clone, (not a good job I know...just a hurried example...)which I post here for your opinion...

By the way, the gorgeous arch of the leg and foot is charming! Great pose!

Hugs to Ya!
Ani :)x

two wonderful captures of a real nice lady. Love the translucide part of her dress. Great pose. Very nicely done... as always Paul.

I wouldn't discredit the balance. She sits strong enough within the frame to catch her first, so I guess if you don't mind, then it doesn't matter :)
Cheers
Liz

I don't mind if your eye wanders...that's what strong lines will do in a photo. As long as your eyes snapped FIRST to her face, then I'd say it is sufficiently balanced.

I love the setting, and she is the perfect model, but my eyes wander off along the wall to the top of the picture. Maybe if the wall was darker, it would draw attention back to the girl? Shoot me if I have it all wrong, and please don't take offense, I love your work :)

For Amber, yes, the other shot is stronger.
What pleases me about this shot is the angle of the waterline off into the corner, leading down to her foot.

Thanks, Tom.

this is also a very nice picture - but to be honest the other one is much better (from tones, pose and so on) - nevertheless I give you a big 6
