No problem Nick, I'm sure there are many different ways to achieve the same kind of results. I find this way quite effective. We can go overboard with the effects sometimes, so we have to be careful not to produce all kinds of spectacular colours not seen in nature :):) Still a wonderful tool. The effect is perfect for this kind of shot. Glad I could contribute. Andre

I agree Nick, This one does indeed have a more antique look to it. I think it's the soft focus that does it.
There is probably more than one way to simulate sepia toning in PS. I can tell you my method.
1. Image, mode, greyscale, click discard colour. 2. Image, mode, RGB colour. 3. Image, adjustments, colour balance.
From there you will be able to tone the image many different way. It is very easy to ruin the integrity of the details like this, so you have to be careful. The good thing is you can always save different versions and play around with them without losing the original. Hope this helps. Andre

And imagine that I was only trying to just depict the way I was perceiving the world, Andre! You know, tired and sleepy eyes do not focused very well. I was going to work again, again after only some 3 or 4 hours of sleep, head hanging down, almost going with autopilot since I think I was half-asleep! ;-) At some moement I thought, perhaos I could capture the scene as I saw it. And this is the result. Strange!
I converted this one to B&W too, but I don't quite remeber how to convert ot to sepia using PS. (How do we do that?)
Anyway, this one looks indeed much more like a 1920's stree shot to me than the other one did. (And I don't even know why! ;-))
All the best, and thank you so much for the great comment!

Thanks a lot again, Dave!
Actually the atmosphere was quite bad to me at that time, since such views meant only running out of breath for me, but so it's nice to see how the views of the photographer and the spectator may differ.
Best wishes,
Nick

My favourite of the four so far Nick! No question in my mind, this is the best! Beautiful and warm colour.. The composition is very appealing. The image is timeless! I really like the soft focus. The image is very atmospheric. As I said before, if this were converted to B&W or sepia tone, it would look just like a 1920's street shot.
This might be one of your best images IMO. Andre
