Urs, this is a well done portrait, very classical in its composition, and even the quite hilarious smile does fit the physiognomy of the person.

But there is some kind of "haze" over the image, something like a softening of contours or lack of the last finest details that lower the power of expression. Is it perhaps the overexposure in the face? BTW, did you use a flashlight? In combination with being slightly out of focus it can bring such phenomena.
