Hi John, Yes I used a 300mm for this shot. I can't afford anything bigger. and I actually borrowed this lens from a friend. The cool thing was we had about an hour and a half to photograph this bull as he swam around and ate. At one point he was only about 25 ft away just hanging out. It was an awesome opportunity and also quite humbling. Moose are such majestic animals!

300 mm lens you say. When I lived in Maine and did this sort of thing I found I wanted more like 1000 mm. 'Course my bull was not happy as my being there and was quite intimidating. We were someplace on the east side of the park. Great catch you got there.
