AJ -- Thanks for commenting. I thought the same thing on first glance. A closer look revealed springs which the plough tines use to apply tension when cutting furrows in the field. I would say this plow was retired some time ago.

Oh, so it's some sort of plough? The perspective makes it look so close to the fence I thought it was connected, and that those springs on top were electrical insulators - all part of some ominous electrical contraption. Ha, the power of the camera to confuse...
