You are absolutely right Doc!! When I went this place in New Yprk city ... I was not having my tripod with me... since I was clicking some street shots throughout the day. So it was just a handheld + resting on a wall kind of shot with wind blwoing atleast 15 miles pe hour. I know.... there are flaws ... as far as the sharpness and exposure is concerned. I dont have any of those filters too... cause i have never planned to shoot landscpae :)
Yes Paul has some wonderful shots in his portfolio.
Thanx once again doc for your wonderful and honest critic.... all I want is this from you ... :) not like .... ohhh what a shot ... kinda!! :)
Be well Doc!!

ths is a nice attempt Deb but needs some work IMO: this type of images need few elements, so the houses on the horizon distracts a lot, the stocks are a bit blurred however the water is not blurred enough (nice contradiction:). I think you should use larger (hyperfocal) DOF and a long exposure (perhaps with an ND filter), a tripod and mirror-lock up is mandatory for sharpness; having said that it could seems that the picture is very bad, and not at all, but it can be improved for sure. Paul Schofield has very fine examples in his portfolio, please take a look (http://www.usefilm.com/photographer.asp?ID=112864) knowing your talent in few attempts more you'll get it :) be well...txules

This image is fantastic Deb!! Very moody...very dark & mysterious. I love all of the wood protruding from the water, and your rule-of-thirds is dead-on in the composition. Nice work here! ~Sheryl
