Unfortunately not as much of journeys as I'd wish I had, Ambenis. But still, we get around, we meet each other, we get much more contact than any kind of NBC-News could ever produce ;-)

Cheers,

Nick

Yes, Ambenis, exactly!

I once read in a book about the mountain ranges in the southern balkan peninsula and I was so amazed to see what I was missing from my own country too, that I decided to take the time and make a long trek there. This was back in the late 80s at the times when I did climbing. As you can imagine it was a big surprise to me, since I didn't knew anything about those ranges, and thought that the typical alpine regions can be found only in central Europe. And I was completely wrong. So I started at the region of Olymp, and just walked my way up to Albania passing through villages, or going along rivers and streams, etc. I couldn't believe what I saw - it radically changed my view of the place. Unfortunately I wasn't as much into photography at those times. If you can make such a trek with your camera there, then do it! You will need a huge amount of memory cards for the images!

The other thing I was amazed about was the absolutely great people along my whole trek. Always really helpful and interested about what I was doing, and also very caring (sometimes also anxious) about that crazy guy that wanted to walk the place alone. ;-) Sometimes my rucksack was too small to pack all the food they gave me for the way.

Cheers,

Nick

I`m surprised that you visited them, and I understood that you walked from Mt.Olymp to the Kosovo mounts, am I whright? I intend to walk mounts from Kosovo to the border with Albania and Montenegro in near future.I heard that is very intresting three angle border.
P.S sorry for my bad english.

Best regards

Yes, I know of those colors, Ambenis, because I walked the mountains range from Mt. Olymp in Greece up to the mounts of Kosovo alone. (They were very very surprised at the border! ;-))

Most people know the lands of the balkan peninsula for the mediterranean coasts, whoch indeed are inviting. But very few know of the mounts there. Which perhaps is also a good thing, considering that a too strong touristic exploitation might also bring the real curse in form of rubbish and coca cans lying everywhere over the place;-)

Still, for photography those mounts are ideal!

Cheers, and be happy to have seen those "cursed mounts" with your own eyes - and camera!

Thank you Nick, th Cursed mountains are from Peja town in Kosovo to the border with Montenegro, they are named like this I dont why, sure humans brought them- and I agree whith you.

They are known with beautiful colours, lot of water and snow in the winter.
Also they are atractive for visitors.
Best regards, Ambenis.

Cursed? I would say blessed, Ambenis, and you made that blessing quite visible in all those details and finest nuances of greens, yellows, greys and blues. The finest strokes of colors compose all together such a realistic but still dreammy view!

The depth seems to vanish under a blueish haze and I am not quite sure yet, if this is good or bad. It does makes the distance more feelable but doesn't it also diminisch the power of clarity of the image at its foreground?

Anyway, a great capture technically, and it would have been even greater, I guess, under a shorter focal length - provided of course the scence would allow such an approach.

All the best and keep it up!

Nick

P.S.: Ambenis, the only curse that mountains or anything else ou there even had was the curse that humans brought with them.
