About ... this pic. It is one of a series I took while in Rochester, New York a few years back. I totally missed these when I came back. I found them today while doing some research. Enjoy... it was some terribly killer lighting...

Paul, I have dozens of lightning photos... from brilliant (no pun intended) to crap... and I own nothing more than my wee Nikon 8800 and timer mode. Then again... maybe I have all thoise shots because lightning storms come strolling through my yard on a regular basis. Ok... if ya want to capture lighning... visit Illinois (room for free) in late May. Maybe we can work something out. And I posted this one several months ago. I was a little surprised I didn't have more comments. It is frustrating as all get out... enjoy.

I don't s'pose you captured any of that killer lightning, Jim?
I've got all the gear for doing so, but have lacked a cooperative cloud now for...oh...2 years.

NO! The horozon is straight. There is a slight curvature to the Earth you can see here. To the right side of the image, beyond the trees, the horizon is level. This is easily proved in the width of the dark sky. On the left side the space between water and sky is wider than the space on the right side... and the center tree is plumb... um, straight up. That non-level horizon is true to nature.
