About A small sub-series in the series "Humans". Small Sammy was searching for chocolate between the flowers - or so we thought! In reality he was searching for any remarkable discovery.

I'll post the best six images of this sub-series in reverse order, in order to have them in the right order in the protfolio.

Any comments would be very welcome.

You merciless father! You would really chop your kid too bits and bytes and TCP/IP-packets? Poor kid, I can only say!

But think of that: By emailing me one of your little sweet "Laras" you could re-introduce a big problem. You see, having no children I thought that I could at last succesfully solve the problem of continuation of the... "family name" I carry, by simply wiping it out from this universe! ;-) Now, you don't really want additional small sweet... "Karagamhg..." (rats!) to walk this earth under that name? Have mercy for the coming generations, that is! ;-)

Yes, I guess that this was exactly what I should have done here, Paul. Of course it gets hard to do so, when the model wouldn't simply stop for some seconds! ;-)

Oh, and BTW, that's not my son. I don't have any children.

Cheers,

Nick

Whether your son or the flowers, try to 'orbit' your subject and examine it from all angles.

Hi Paul!

Thanks a lot for the comment and even more for the advice! And excuse me please in case you see your comment marked as abuse, which it definitely isn't - I clicked that link accidentally while I wanted to click on the link for replying to you. I "undid" that immediately when I realized that, but I don't know if this was all that it takes.

Your crop made things indeed better. Starting from the cropped version I also thing that Sammy could cover a bigger part of the image too - but also keeping enough of the yellow flowers in whoch he was walking. So, having read your suggestion I start "shooting" some images of him in mind - thanks a lot again!

Cheers,

Nick

I guess my first bit of advice would be to add tension to the shot. It is at its lowest here, because he is so perfect centered in frame.

Since we want him to be off-center, why not crop out that bright corner upper left and get the horizon a bit lower, like this:

cropped to strengthen the dark BG

Yes, that was good luck that he dedided to stand there for a couple of seconds, Paul. ;-)

And as you have great expertise with models (OK, not as young! ;-)), what are these 6 iamges of him missing? They seem to be OK to me, but then again not exactly. So, any ideas about what could it be that makes them look so... half way through?

Cheers,

Nick

Yes, and it should be better focused, I guess, Dave! Isn't the focus on his face/expression too soft?

Many many thanks,

Nick

This is nice isolation of Sammy with a dark background behind him, Nick.

I like this one the best of today's, Nick! The expression is priceless!
