Ahhh gorgeous! So nice to get him to face you for this pose. I have noticed that the elk behave the same way with the car, if you are moving they just look at you but if you stop they stampede. Tried to get close to 150 of them 4-wheeling my FJ out into the pasture last week. What a sight! Deb

Absolutely right Ed - they're literally like rabits around here, and unfortunately, when a car or truck stops, these guys head for the hills as there is often a load of hot lead headed in their direction from a rancher's rifle. This guy was reluctant to leave a carcass he was feeding on so gave me time to get off 4 shots of the non-lethal variety... Thanks! KS

Great shot Kerry, really shows the potential camouflage of his fur.
I am embarrassed to admit I don't even know the wildlife of my own country...coyote?
