About	Nel 1995 il centro storico di Ferrara è stato inserito dall'UNESCO nella lista dei luoghi patrimonio mondiale dell'umanità, come mirabile esempio di città pianificata nel rinascimento che ha conservato intatto il suo centro storico. Ferrara, crebbe nelle vicinanze di un guado sul fiume Po, e divenne un importante centro artistico e intellettuale che attrasse le più grandi menti del rinascimento italiano nei secoli XV e XVI . A Ferrara, Piero della Francesca, Jacopo Bellini e Andrea Mantegna decorarono il palazzo della casa d'Este. Il concetto umanista di "città ideale" nacque e fu realizzato qui, a partire dal 1492, da Biagio Rossetti in accordo con il principio della prospettiva. La realizzazione di questo progetto segnò la nascita della moderna pianificazione urbanistica e influenzò gli sviluppi seguenti. Palazzo Municipale (ex Palazzo Ducale) Ferrara I primi insediamenti nel territorio ferrarese erano dell’età del bronzo, di influenza etrusca, di influenza dei Galli e romani. Il Palazzo Ducale, fu costruito a partire dal 1243 e divenne residenza della famiglia estense fino al XVI secolo, quando la corte si trasferì nel Castello . Ai lati dell'antico accesso al Palazzo stanno un archetto ed una colonna sui quali sono poste le statue del Marchese Nicolo III a cavallo e del duca Borso d'Este in trono. Dal 1264 al 1598 fu Ducato degli Estensi, poi divenne parte dello Stato della Chiesa. Nel 1860 entrò a far parte del Regno d’Italia ed oggi fa parte della Repubblica Italiana.
