Oh, I see! Thanks a lot for the info about that, Dave! So, they are rather thought as "things for having fun", I guess. But it's good to take the bike sometimes, be it for recreation or transportation.

It must be also that Lucerne is really not big. You can get everywhere around the city center within minutes already on foot. And as there are additional bike tracks along almost every street, it is really practical. The only hard thing is, how you get upwards the slopes of some steets with the bike. I tried to do that... well, I thought I'd breath my lungs out! ;-) And then I see those young people going up like rockets, and I think I'm getting old!!! Or I smoke too much. Or both!! ;-)

Cheers!

Hi Nick, what I meant was that we don't use them as much for city transportation as in Europe, and you don't often see masses of them parked like this. There is a lot of recreational use of bikes though.
Dave.

You mean... not many bikes over there, Dave? If so, then it gives me a surprise since my "image" of Canada always included people that are very connected to that kind of "natural" attitude, in the sense of taking the bike often. But perhaps also bikes are used rather for going "out there" in the endless regions of Canada?

Anyway, I am glad if I captured some "forgotten" scene, Dave!

Cheers!

Thanks a lot for the detailed comment and the additional input, Gustavo.

Surely I'll go for it also under stronger light some day. (Chromium reflections are always a good exercise.)

But as already said, the dimmed light is subtle. It doesn't invade your eyes, but it waits to be discovered in some street, and so you can keep on searching.

Cheers!

Sometimes the members of a sequence are very complicated, but at the same time the sequence itself has some very simple properties. I guess you hit the nail on its had again, Visar!

The sum of the elements might exhibit a peculiar, complicated behavior many times. But many times it also exhibits a rather reducing behavior, when it makes visible the "overall" behavior rather, than the consituting details. Much like statistics. An average doesn't say anything about any individual sample drawn out of the pool, but it does says something about the pattern that evolves and stabilizes when the number of drawn individuals goes to infinity ;-)

Cheers and thanks a lot!

A really interesting capture of all these bikes, Nick! We don't usually see that kind of thing over here.

Excelente la composición usando las diagonales, muy interesantes las bicicletas, realmente son muchísimas!, creo que con una luz de sol que genere sombras la foto ganaría en interés.

Un abrazo!

what i find striking here Nick, is the complexity of the shot, and yet its simplicity. It is simple because you only have a few elements, trees, bycicles, the tower and a few other elements that play their part but not as important. and it is complex as it fills the entirety of the canvas with those few elemnts in an enormous depth- and that is is an outcome of the selective perspective.

cheers,
v.
