About I don't know who painted that on the earth, but it surely reminded me of that game that the politiians plays. In the middle, I think, I see some "acceptable collateral damage" ;-) Let's don't worry, and don't take it personally. And if it hits us personally, it was not meant personally. Of course not! It can't have been personally meant since politics don't care about persons with names and faces, ey? ;-)

Any comments would be very welcome.

The course of democracy will stabilize, in your country and in all other countries of the world, Gustavo. But it takes time. And we will understand that, but we will not understand that by bombings and super-powers that "defend democracy". it has tocome from ourselves. And we need time. Europe needed more than 300 years for that. And still it is not a repfect implementation of democracy.

Cheers.

La verdad que tenes razón en tus apreciaciones, de todas formas aquí en mi país, lo mejor que tenemos es la democracia...imperfecta, sí, no hay dudas...pero lo mejor que tenemos.

Un abrazo!

There are two completely different things, Gustavo!

The one thing is the concept of democracy, its ideals, its consequences, etc. The theoretical frame, which is very good.

But there is also what they *sell* us for democracy, which simply is no democracy at all.

In the theoretical frame of democracy there is no single reference or dependence on some particular economic system. Democracy doesn't have to do with capitalism, or with socialism, or with any other pericular way on which the economy of some country works. Still they present us capitalism as a synonym for democracy, which is exactly like saying that an animal that breaths air has to be an elephant. To imply that capitalism is a necessary and sufficient condition for democracy, as they will never miss to do in the news or speeches, is simply false!

Second of all, the illusion that our typical implementation of democracy in the western world is a good one, is only that: an illusion! In democracy, so the theory, each citizen should have the same possibilities to actively participate in politics and even receive the highest positions in government. Look at the amount of money that is necessary for the Muppet Shows of political campaigns, and try to guess if some person with an average amount of income is really equally able to be elected, say, as a prime minister. Even Hillary needed to do that huge party with prices of tickets at about 2000$ ;-)

Third comes the typical consequences of implementations of democracy that undego the mistake to make themselves depending too much on economy. The USA has an endless list of actions against other countries, just for "protecting the own democracy", or what they made of the theoretical foundations of democracy. This behavior in the name of democracy is at least unacceptable.

All this was about the difference between democracy and what is *made* of democracy.

But even accepting that democracy has been idealy implemented in some countries, it is only arrogant to say that democracy is the "best system" for all kind of cultures. This is a mistake! There are cultures and societies that can exist much better under other systems, like for example a kingdom, or a sultanate, or whatever. The "other" systems are not necessarily dictatotial just because they are not democracies. Any study of political study will tell you that. If we insist on "bringing them" democracy when they don't want it, we only prove that we ourselves are not democratic at all!

Cheers!

Symbolism? I only see the insane reality of politics and their weird checkerboards, where they play their games of power, death and destruction, while they sell us "democracy". ;-)

Cheers!

Esta foto me gusta mucho, es como un tablero de ajedrez, no esto seguro con papaeles rojos al medio, me parece que molestan un poco...aunque presumo que tiene algún simbolismo.

Un abrazo!
