Very interesting. Very sharp. From the thumbnail at first thought I was looking at frogs. Very pleasant.

Joggie, thanks a lot for the info! Really, the image is even better to me now! I see still inclusions of sediments in rock! Much like that kind of crystals that are enclosed in stone. You really proceeded to the very heart of interference colors! I've never seen them so well defined until now.
I understand what you mean about composition. Indeed, it has to happen first in mind, as the right part of the scene is one of the most important things. It is crucial to frame it the right way right our of the camera.
On this one I had my problems to mentally "see" it without the bubbles on the edges. So, I tried the crop in order to see if the frame of reference would disappear, and... it really does. (Attachment) The bubbles are quite meteoring then. They don't integrate as well on the image. So, I guess that you took the right decision, but I must say that I would pressumably do the wrong thing here. Thank you very much for making it clear to me!
Cheers!
Nick

Hi Nick, thanks so much for your comment. If you go back to the info on Bubble Mania 1, you will see that this actually is a macro of very small foam bubbles formed while I was washing my car. The white is not rock but fine foam drifting in a small puddle on the ground. The rich colours was from the oiliness coming from the car tyres etc.
I decided against cropping out the red bubble for the following reasons. The "island or group' of blue & green bubbles were surrounded by the white foam and other bubbles of different hues - framing the main subject with similar form but different colour. Trying to crop out the red one, I would lose an important part of this frame of reference because with the red one goes another and another . . . I try my best to do the cropping in camera - the viewfinder is an extention of the eye (and the eye of the mind) and I first visualise the image before I take up the camera and release the shutter. Judged by your work, I am sure that you would agree. All the best. Joggie

And another good abstract made by nature, which you caught in a very expressive way, Joggie! The contrast of the rich colors of the "bubbles" against the whiter rock that surrounds them is quite strong. The big colorful ones make a good pattern together with the smaller ones.
I think that the two partially captured bubbles of orange and black at the bottom are a bit of "intruders" in the design. So perhaps getting it a bit closer and leaving those two bubbles out could provide more "integrity". But here is a big question of photography of nature. Make it more and more "photogenic" in the purely photographical sence and soon you lose much of the natural look and feel, that never cared so much to fulfill some "rules" of the photographer. So I guess your approach had its own kind of understanding.
BTW, what is that? I've seen many times inclusions in rock, but never of this kind. Any more info about that?
Cheers!
Nick

At first ti thought this was a Miro painting or sculpture...but no this is in your sink....I will now be obsessed with doing the dishes...or better yet, not doing them because i will be looking at the bubbles!

Seems like there were countless great image possibilities in your bubble puddle, Joggie! I was looking at the bubbles in my coffee cup this morning and wondering what Joggie would do. Not nearly so dedicated, I finished my breakfast! ;) I'm enjoying my newly acquired 200mm macro lens. It is a handful but seems to work well with the Panagor and also holds good image quality with the 6T close-up lens. I have not found much insect life, yet (it's not like Africa!) The spring is quite cool for insects, in the meantime flowers will have to do! Eb
