About That's my girl "Sugar" in the blue collar at her 2nd JRTCA Trial/Show at the Nevada County Fairgrounds this last weekend. Doing much better than last year when she had her behind facing the front of the racing box at the start. She was in the lead, tied for 1st place until about 3/4 down the track when she got nervous about entering the small hole under the bales of hay at the end of the race and finished last. I was very proud of her though. She's a rescue and I've had her almost 2 years now. She really loves competing and we don't do anything to encourage her... she just has it in her blood. I guess that's pretty much part of being a Jack Russell Terrier. It was great fun taking pics with my new camera this weekend!

I actually like the cropped version better, from the "action shot" point of view... Brilliant!

Jack Russell bonanza in your portfolio; love the action in this shot, they look so serious and into it.

On a separate note I never realised you can race them... don't think you do in Britain at any rate, Greyhounds yes, but not baby dogs :)

I digress...

Well captured, everything looks in focus, even like the foot in the background to give it a sense of scale.

Regards,
Ciprian

wow, what a cool action shot, the dust and grass flying, very cool.

Heya Brigitte... yup, been a bit aloof lately, just swamped with work and photography, actually.... seems never ending. then throw in a kitchen remodel this summer, followed by pneumonia... and hey. But instead of getting ready for the tile going in tomorrow, thought I would goof off instead...

Catch you later....

Dave

Good seeing you again AJ. I see you've been creating some fantastic shots lately! Thanks for stopping in and leaving a great comment. I never considered that the leg shows scale and you are absolutely right. I actually did "blur" it somewhat before uploading it so it appears less as a distraction. That is the guy that lifts the door up off the racing boxes at the start of the race. Hope life has been treating you well - Brigitte

Thanks for dropping by, David and leaving those wonderful comments! Yeah, they remind me of Little Rascal's too and that's an appropriate name! They are so amusing - and on the same hand are very affectionate, cuddle babies. Very unique breed. I really loved your shot of the one bouncing at the back door. Sugar does the same exact thing - I will have to try and get a shot like that! I love it!! :) Have a great day - Brigitte

Hi Mehul, thanks for your kind comments (the rating didn't register though). I don't know who won... they fly by me so fast and I was at the beginning of the track and didn't see who got in first place. I'll know in a few weeks when the results are posted at the JRTCA. I think it was the girl in the pink though... that is the one Sugar was tied for first place until 1/4 to the finish.

Great fun - the leg somehow gives the image scale, showing just how small the dogs are.

OMG what a GREAT shot! It makes it so much better that they're small dogs. I don't think it would be nearly as cute if they were big. Reminds me of the little rascals for some reason. I think the tighter crop is a bit better but too bad you have to ditch that other dog to get it. You could always photoshop his leg out.

Here's a tighter shot, cropped to remove the mans leg in the background which probably is a little distracting... which do you like better?
