Alright..... now, this is just plain EXCELLENT !!! Looks 100% PRO !!! Great model, great expression, great attitude, great outfit, great pose, great body positioning, great lighting (OK, the lighting is SLIGHTLY low but the ever important CONNECTION/CONTACT with the viewer is there and that's what really counts in Fashion !!!), great color combos, great hair, great make-up, great LOOK !!! Only thing I would do differently is crop a bit (width of a pinky finger on a 17" Mac wide screen) off the left - get rid of some of that empty space and put her slightly more off center. THIS is a BRILLIANT SHOT (but yet gets ONLY 5.9/3 ratings)....... goes without saying I'm going with a 7 which HOPEFULLY will put it into 6 something - GOOD FOR YOU PAUL, you've come a long way - (stick to this... what you did here, you got it) - BRAVO !!!

Yeah, no doubt that a big chunk of south-facing sky is the world's greatest soft box.
I've got a shoot this evening, Leora. It's on location, but I'll be using my soft box, so I'll give it a whirl. Thanks!

Hi, Paul. That sounds like a fabulous soft box. We had one that was 4 x 4 ft. with tilt and on wheels, but we never used it that close to the models. I like it best when it looks like window light.
Your light is close to perfect. Try pulling it back to about 6 ft. when you get a chance and a bit more to the front to open up a triangle on the shadow side of the face. This worked wonders for my commercial work, where I needed consistent results.
We once rented an artist studio with a north light window about 8 x 10 ft. I never quite got over that and try to recreate that effect whenever I can.

Leora, the light is evenly spread, as it is a 5-foot high soft box about 3 feet from Allison.
I do get your point about necks and the relative positioning of the face to the lens, though. Thanks.

Hi, Paul. The lighting and tone are quite dynamic. I like the composition and attitude. But, one little thing. I am becoming more and more conscious of necks in photos and find that they can distract from the face, if the perspective is from too low an angle.
Perhaps the photo would be more flattering to this young lady, if she brought her chin down or you raised the camera a bit. The eyes would get bigger and the lips more in proportion and it would be a more intimate portrait.
I understand that the tights are an important part of the fashion statement, but the eye tends to go to the highlighted part which is the neck and shoulders. Maybe just pull the light back a bit to get a more even spread.
