About Does anyone know why foxes den so close to the road? It seems to be quite common. The fox in my photos from early spring was killed and I have been quite sad in knowing this. However, today a neighbor introduced me to this family. Apparently there are three kits, but only two came out to greet me this rainy spring morning.

What a darling pair of kits! I love foxes so much. What excellent expressions, seem a bit perturbed, noise perhaps. Really love this shot, dashed lovely. I noted fox dens near the road in N. IL, too; thought it was because predators were least likely to linger about roads, don't like the noise, and also won't hear kits crying, and such. Dead animals, too, sounds like a good reason. Very sad to hear of the loss of one fox; I love these creatures so much! I lost some geese a while back to a road-accident. Very painful. Lovely photo, the best to you and your fox-friends,

Great moment Debra... I was meaning to ask you about Black sox - Last time I saw her she was being chased across the road by the resident dog... Perhaps an omen of things to come. Sorry to hear that as well. Great find here tho', and beautifully done!

I love the expressions, like Moe and Larry thinking about some mischief to get into. Sorry that you lost one. I'm thinking like Sunset Man, they're looking for food, as in other critters as roadkill. They're also opportunists. Fortunately they thrive in spite of our intrusions.

Too bad about the other fox, Debra, but you've got a great shot of these two!

Aloha Debra,

Perhaps looking for food and even worse is that we probably have invaded their own territory too far. You do have my condolences for their families' loss.

In all wildlife happiness though to think positive I jusr would like to say that they are very cute and clever looking which you have captured well and I hope they live a long and healthy life.

Thanks for sharing and I'm always glad when I see other people posting wildlife images.

Best of Regards!

Very Cool. I really like how you have them cropped and the colors in the background and Fox look really good.
