This is one great capture!! That bird is not sure the place it landed on is the right -place or not....and it has an almost insulted expression! YT

Hi Dave..I am a little surprised you have Meadowlarks. I was born and raised in central Kansas and they are the Kansas state bird. They are ground nesting which works well as Kansas has very few trees. They hide their nests in the grass so well they are almost impossible to find. When you nearly step on them they use the trick of pretending to be injured and flap away on the ground from the nest trying to draw you away. This one looks uncomfortable sitting on a wire. I like the way it's legs are spread like it is afraid it will fall. Del.

Hi Andre, thanks for the comment! This is the Western Meadowlark, but there is an eastern variety which is very similar. Dave.

Superb definition of colors, textures, details - just everything on the bird, Dave! The strong separation of the bird from the background and the timing worked hand in hand here. This one could make its way into books of nature and wildlife again. Only a minimal diminishing of that great definition at the feet of the bird - perhaps some kombination of overexposure and motion blur, which really doesn't disturb me at all since my eyes are absorbed by the bird at that moment.
Cheers!
Nick
