Thank You, Ray! I am not a painter, I am not a writer, I am not a musician. One of my wishes is to be an artist. I think that photography is some kind of art (or - it can be some kind of art). I try to show other people beauty of the world, because world is beautiful... Be well, my Friend!

Absolutely fabulous. Perfectly shot night time study with an awesome rippling reflection on the water Gosia. The colour tones are so beautiful and the details stunning. I love your reply to Nick and I would defend your right to the title of the shot and your comparisons to old literature. I love to romanticise about good photography and become almost poetic when I comment. This is first class photography my dear Gosia. Best of wishes, again......Ray

The two without the reflection I found best, Gosia! The color image for its nice brightness in the night, and the B&W for its "concentration" on the few important thinks, as it happens with most B&W-images. So, using them as hints for a possible real shot, you could go there again and try that. It must get better if it's a bit bigger as an image.
Cheers!
Nick

Thanks a lot for your reply, Gosia!
I couldn't care less about "other worlds" and "Alice's wonderland". Don't bother me with such stories. But I do care about good photography, freefrom any "symbolic pseudophilosophy". So let's talk about objective things and not fantasies that nobody else than you can *see* on the image. Don't forget, I can only see the image that you shot.
I must completely accept that the inclusion of the reflection added the element of symmetry onto the image in a very good way. Nice also to see that the darkness around the objects doesn't get interrupted by any kind of visible deviation from black, neither on the sky, nor on the river. This way the lights from the objects win a very uniformly high contrast.
The idea to leave out the reflection came to me because the reflection is not absolutely clear for a real "identical" kind of symmetry, but also not absolutely "fuzzy" for only light but not form enhancement. (Of course a river will hardly produce that kind of perfect mirroring simply because it flows and so there will be always some twirls and wavelets on its surface.) Still it is an idea just for "seeing what happens then". It might work, it might also not work.
Cheers!
Nick

Hello, Nick! I like very much your comments, thanks for another one. I want to show reflections because: 1. these reflections is "another world" for me 2. church is staying there from over thousand years. World and people are still changes but these towers are still staying - quiet and peacefull. And the river flows... It's another "another world" 3. when I've made this shot, around me was a lot of people but after other part of river were only quiet ligths... 4. for me this picture looks like a playing card; remember Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland"? it's "another world" too.
With best wishes and kind regards.
Gosia.

I don't see any "another world" here, Gosia, but the very well exposed view of *this world" in the night, while the deep darkness allows some of the colors and shapes to evolve in some different ways in front of our eyes. The high contrast between the highlights of details and the shadows does bring a great tension into the image.
Another idea would be to leave the reflection out of the image, and see what happens then. Still the degree of fidelity is very strong as it has to be for letting the buildings stand out so well in the night!
Cheers!
Nick
