I find no harm as this picture “The Boy” has been put into the ‘People’ category. Even ‘haari-kora-r chhobi’ can be a type of photo-journalism if it can support the article. Dear Fotogr@vi, we choose a category so that picture can be clubbed together. There should not be any hard-n-fast rule and the most vital point is that what Author is saying. If Photography is an ART, it means that it is Absolute Relative Thoughts. And “Great men think alike!”
Albeit we like to remain as much 'breaking the rule' type, there are some points where we have to follow some norms. Ekhon keu haari-kora-r chhobi tule jodi photojournalism bole, tahole kemon hoy ? shei jonnei, if we DO choose a category, we have to understand what it means. Nahole 'others' choose kora jay.
qn: 'does it matter' ? ans: sometimes, it does ! :)
I am really illiterate to categorise photography. and i do not bother if this doesn't qualify as a 'people' photograph, because at that moment the intention was to capture that particular frame and nothing else.
The eyes truly draw you INTO the scene, but then just the fact that they do not find anything interesting to really concentrate on, is a disappointment. If you had visualized this as an abstract though, I would have understood, but this is not a 'People' photograph to me in any way !
