I was at the LaSalle county Genealogy Guild's library over the weekend and found some information on my line of the Erbes family and I thought that I would share in the interests of increasing the activity on this forum.
The records I found were the county probate records from the Kunegunda (Knauer) Erbes estate. The document reads as follows:
"In the Matter of the Estate of Kunegunda Erbes, Deceased. Proof of Heirship.
Now comes Philip Erbes, administrator of the estate of Kunegunda Erbes, deceased, and makes proof of heirship in said estate. And the Court having heard the testimony of said Philip Erbes, a competent witness of lawful age, produced, sworn and examined on oath in open Court finds from such testimony that said Kunegunda Erbes was married once and only once; that she was married to Daniel Erbes who departed this life about the year 1872, and that there were born of siad marrige six and only six children, viz. Katy, Elizabeth, Henry, Margaret, Philip and Emma Erbes.
That said Katy Erbes is married to Ernest Funke and now resides with her said huband at Greenfield, Iowa.
That said Elizabeth Erbes was marreid to John Taylor who is now deceased and that she now resides at Los angeles, California.
That said Henry Erbes departed this life on or about the month of March 1892; that he was married to Eva Buettner and that ther were born to said Henry Erbes of said marriage four and only four children, viz.: Lillian, Clara, Henrietta and Mary Erbes.
That said Lillian, Clara and Henrietta Erbes are unmarried and now reside at Mendota, in this county.
That said Mary Erbes departed this life in infancy long prior to the death of said Kunegunda Erbes.
That said Margaret Erbes was married to Charles Buettner who departed this life prior to the death of said Kunegunda Erbes; that said Margaret Buettner resided at Mendota but is now in California.
That said Philip Erbes is married to Lydia Kapser andnow resides with his said wife near Sublette, Lee County, Illinois.
That said Emma Erbes is unmarried and now resides at Mendota, in this County.
The Court further finds that said Kunegunda Erbes departed this life intestate at her late home at Mendoat in this County, on or about February 23rd, 1904, leaving her surviving no husband, and Katie FUnke, ELizathe Taylor, Margaret Buettner, Philip Erbes, and Emma Erbes, her childre he only survivng children and Lillian, Clara, and Henrietta Erbes, children and only surviving children and no descendant or descendants of any decesed child or children of Henry Erbes, her deceased son and no descendant or descendants or any other deceased son or daughter her heir and her only heirs at law."
