Efectivamente la cantidad de luz que se aplica y donde, es determinante para obtener estas fotos. Por supuesto una variable importante es la intensidad de la luz de la linterna y como es esa luz, eso condiciona el tiempo de exposición para un efecto dado...pero en fin, creo que aquí hay que practicar mucho, ensayo y error y ver los resultados.
Amigo, animate y hace algo similar!!!, me quedo a la espera.

I don't have the impression that 30 seconds was too long here. There is some enhancement of light here and there on the image, but I understand that exactly this is one of the main objectives of the method, or am I wrong? Anyway, I search for my torch and let's see how I can use it for some images!

En este caso toda la toma completa no duró más de 30 segundos, de todas formas me doy cuenta que la linterna que tengo ilumina demasiado fuerte, eso dificulta la sutileza al momento de efectuar la iluminación de la escena.

Efectivamente la técnica es muy interesante y da fantásticos resultados, en este sentido te invito a ver http://www.arturoaguiar.com/portfolio.html donde Arturo Aguiar obtiene resultados muy originales y artísticos.
En cuando a cómo aplicar la luz, bueno, es como ir dando pequeñas pinceladas y recorrer la escena. El tiempo de iluminación por supuesto depende de la sensibilidad de la película y de la intensidad de la luz, pero aún tengo que experimentar mas, todavía no lo domino bien y aquí hay que aprender por ensayo y error...:-), si la moves lento sobre expones, si moves rápido te queda muy oscuro, hay que encontrar el punto medio...
Animate a hacer algún intento!

Very interesting technique to use, Gustavo! I wonder what the results would be if one would only "paint" some parts of the image and leave the rest dark - perhaps some kind of jigsaw puzzle.
The image seems to be generated out of pure light this way. It has tension but also a strange kind of quietness. The neutral face expression and also the softer look contribute in a nice consistent way to the latter.
How long did you have to use the flashlight for "painting" the image?

Bien Txules! ya me conseguí el disparador inalámbrico estándar de mi Canon, ahora tengo que ver cómo se usa y probar si sirve (si no seguiré con mis 30 segundos).
Tenés absoluta razón en cuanto a la sutileza en la aplicación de la luz: Arturo, en el documental no la aplicaba directo sino dando como pinceladas de lado a lado, y sin dudas la linterna adecuada habrá que buscarla por ensayo y error. También hay que distinguir entre la luz que se aplica sobre los objetos de la que se aplica detrás de los objetos, esta última es para dar contrates y enfatizar las formas.
Lo que he visto en algunos de sus trabajos es que un cierto movimiento de los personajes de la escena u otros elementos, le aportan toques fantasmales que pueden ser interesantes, pero, como siempre la cuestión es saber distinguir que es bueno y que no y eso vale para cualquier técnica: aplicarla se puede fácilmente, que tu trabajo sea artístico y único, eso no es tan fácil. Es una cuestión de talento y no de técnica, talento es lo que a Arturo Aguiar le sobra...:-)

:-), bueno como indico en el about, esta no es para nada una idea mía, hay verdaderos artista usándola magistralmente, yo solo la he intentado con humildad. La verdad está muy buena la técnica y vale la pena seguir investigándola. Por mi parte el desafío es poder hacer algo diferente de lo que ya se ha hecho... veremos. algunas ideas Gustavo, existen disparadores a distancia por radiofrecuencia creo y que no deben ser muy caros por lo que pones la cámara en "B" y estás tanto tiempo como desees, por contra si estás mucho tiempo y tienes una persona es difícil que se esté quieta, debería funcionar mejor con modelos estáticos, bodegones.
Por otro lado, en este tipo de fotografía me parece que hay que ser muy delicado, muy sutil, es decir la dosis justa de luz, sino que sentido tiene, en la página de Aguiar se puede ver que curiosamente muchas de sus fotos son muy oscuras con pocos toques de luz, me parecen geniales; otra cosa que se me ocurre es que dispares en RAW; obtengas varios TIF con diferentes exposiciones y luego los combines en varias capas en PhotoShop, esto te daría mucha libertad en la iluminación

Gracias Txules, sí, la idea es bárbara y si visitas el sitio de Aguiar podes ver lo que se puede lograr.
Efectivamente no iluminé bien la pierna de Julia pero bueno, tené en cuenta que es el primer intento en casa, sin ningún tipo de preparación ni experiencia previa. Tengo que usar el modo de 30 segundos de exposición lo cual me apura (porque en modo "bulbo" hay que tener el dedo en el disparador, ¿para que sirve de esa forma?, no entiendo, y no puedo pintar con la linterna al mismo tiempo), y finalmente usé la única linternita que encontré en casa...ja...ja... Tengo que investigar mucho todavía para ver cual es la mejor forma de iluminar, con qué linterna, cuanto tiempo...definitivamente necesito un mejor gran angular..., pero bueno, encontrarle la vuelta es lo que lo hace interesante, un nuevo entretenimiento...

Todo el mérito que yo puedo reconocer es de Arturo Aguiar http://www.arturoaguiar.com/portfolio.html, quién ha tenido la generosidad de explicar la técnica en un documental televisivo, yo solo lo he imitado con humildad. La técnica creo es muy interesante y ofrece posibilidades fantásticas, ahora hay que hacer algo diferente y original!..., los invito a intentarlo!

I wish I could read the about in Spanish, but the picture says so much with the light,incredible capture of the colors. I am amazed at your ability to adapt so much into one image. You have turned this into a very magical moment and creative use of the light. Julia is a striking girl with such a wonderful presence. Great work my friend.

la idea me parece genial, la serpiente de luz que recorre la habitación es fantástica y me gustan los colores tan psicodélicos; como única pega, no me gustan cono han quedado las piernas de tu hija, parecen distorsionadas, pero supongo se debe a la suma de luces y sombras con la distorsión del gran angular, pero la técnica promete

Gracias Harry querido amigo, interesante tu interpretación de la escena.
Efectivamente esta técnica te permite construir una historia a medida que haces el recorrido con la luz. Y esa es la idea, pintar con luz...la verdad, maravilloso.
Por mi parte es una de mis primeros intentos, seguiré experimentando a ver qué más se puede hacer.

Gracias Yamil, aprecio tus palabras, de todas formas todo el mérito es de Arturo Aguiar (a quién no conozco personalmente más que por su trabajo) y quién es un artista profesional y reconocido, yo solo lo he imitado con humildad.
Eso sí, la técnica (también fue una novedad para mí) me encantó, creo que abre interesantes posibilidades creativas y por eso me decidí no solo a presentarla aquí, sino también a explicarla.
Me alegra mucho que te haya gustado y te dejo un gran abrazo!
