Unimaginably great coloring in those fantastic brown/red hues! The good details and lighting of the front chestnut make it stand quite well and give it a very solid, tangible look. Its placement is also quite perfect for a very tight and nice composition.
I thing that a greater DoF would be better here, Angie. Imagine the sharpe pattern of the other chestnuts evolving quite naturally over the whole image with that "main chestnut" exactly where it sits now. Still, however, a very carefully shot image and a very carefully made composition - definitely not the usual "just shoot" procedure that doesn't work.
With a greater DoF, I think that this could be a candidate for magazines with some articles about autumn.
Cheers!
Nick
